Benefits of Laser Therapy
Our clinic provides red laser therapy to enhance our patients’ recovery and healing. This treatment is safe, effective, and versatile. Also known as "cold laser," laser light therapy has been used for over 30 years to treat a wide variety of conditions:
- Neuropathy
- Chronic pain
- Post-surgical pain
- Osteoarthritis
- Inflammatory arthritis
- Bursitis
- Sprains
- Sports injuries
- Tendonitis
The demonstrated benefits on the cellular level include:
- Reduced pain, inflammation, and swelling
- Increased circulation
- Higher levels of endorphins and other natural painkillers
- Enhanced collagen synthesis
- Faster production of DNA and RNA
Research from NASA shows that the wavelength of red and infrared light (630-880 nm) can penetrate up to 9 inches into tissues. Laboratory research shows that muscle and skin cells grow up to five times faster as a result of laser therapy. Shuttle astronauts use laser therapy to counteract the loss of bone and muscle mass while in a zero-gravity environment. Navy Seals note that their injuries heal up to two-and-a-half times faster while using laser therapy.
Laser therapy cannot cause damage, but it will stimulate energy production in the tissues. Particles of light, called photons, penetrate the cell. Chromophores in the cell react to light, which stimulates the mitochondria. The mitochondria produce cytochrome C-oxidase, which produces ATP. ATP is used to repair cellular damage.
This therapy is highly effective as a stand-alone treatment. Our clinic provides laser therapy for our patients as part of our unique, bundled treatment package.
